EOC: Wk 7 Trader Joe's Market Research

Two dollar Tuesday is going a long way at Trader Joe's. No longer is $2 wine sold on only Tuesdays, in actuality $2 wine happens everyday. We use this technic as a gimmick to find new consumers and bring them in. Keeping our current consumers happy as well as new consumers.

1. Would you come into a Trader Joe's if we offered $2 salads on our $2 Tuesday wines?
2. If we offered free wine seminar with a purchase of our $2 wines?
3. How often would you consider coming on Tuesdays to Trader Joe's?
4. Do you buy wine for health reasons?
5. How many bottles of wine do you buy in a week?

EOC: Nevadans say income tax cuts should stay

By reading at the article it talks about if the income tax cuts should expire, and some sources and investigating the people reaction. But what is the real problem is not whether is going to expire or not, the problem is the question Should income tax cuts stay?

Obviously people are going to react to that and say no, me personally I was asked and said NO! I don't want that. But the problem is that the question is formatted in a way that you only are hearing what you think and not what is really going on.

People just by saying that they want the income cuts to stay is because they are only thinking with their pockets, the entire purpose is that we don't want to want to pay more to the government. A lot of resources and even the companies that are making the poles are saying that it should stay because if it not only the rich are going to be paying more but every American will be paying more. Other sources say that I shouldn't stay because the rich people are going to be paying low taxes when they don't deserve it, but yet they think only the rich people are going to be affected by this.

Well everything is wrong not unless the congress set the rules of what would happen is a yes or no answer and the president follows along, there is no answer of what is going to happen since the congress hasn't yet provided the information of what is the real situation.

I don't see why companies are making these poles when there is no real answer and its pointless to ask the people about something that has no direction yet. There are just causing for this to become more controversial for nothing, since there isn't any real information out there.

EOC: Reason behind my poles

The reason behind my pole, I work for a tween brand company and for the month of August they had the entire store 40% off plus that is you purchase more than $50 of merchandise you would received back $40 worth back in coupons. I am wondering if people would actually take advantage of the promotion and spend more than $100 just because of the 40% off. It seem a good deal but is a good deal and how of a good deal it is for the company. I want to know what the reaction of the any consumer towards the promotion.

BOC: Trends in men hairstyle

The Fringe
"Increasingly, current men’s fashion trends are being based upon last season’s women’s fashion trends so it comes as no surprise that the fringe will be a major feature of men’s hair trends in 2010."

The Slick Back
"hair styles in 2009 are all about the classics. In fact the slick back may actually be a little too classic for most men, with its popularity in the likes of Ralph Lauren catalogues it actually conveys a real American style that will guarantee it success in the States but probably little outside."

EOC: Movie Big Market Research

In the movie "Big" is about a kid (in an adult body) that works on product development for a toy company were they do a marketing research about how the toys are doing in the business. For a marketing research aspect, there is a big toy company were they had success in all what they do. The problem is that when you look at the movie you can see that they are not doing the necessary research they need to satisfy the customer.

For example, a part of the movie you can see Tom Hanks with the president-owner of the company talking about the toys they have in the store and what he thinks about them. Tom Hanks talks about them as great toys and loving them all, but he questions the president saying why the unnecessary changes in the newer versions. By saying that it means the business is doing great and yes they are selling the toys but if they would of done the research for the toys, they would be making more money.

They are not studying the kids reactions with the changes they are making and even worst they are not testing the upcoming ones. As you can see in the picture Tom Hanks is playing with a building that turns into a robot but he doesn't see the point or what's the big deal about it and questions the product. So why they are so happy about the observations one person is making, because that small observation he is giving can multiply the companies money.

The company starts making some changes and actually start testing the products in this case they can do a focus group to have a group of kids testing their new product development and write notes and how they react and see things. Even more better, what do they suggest. You must always test your target audience because it's not the same having a point of view from someone that doesn't care the function of a toy vs a person or kid it's what most matters.
